Keeslyn Roberts went to a Flying J Truck Stop in Resaca in Gordon County, Georgia on January 18, 2020 at 11PM or 12PM on a rainy night. She backed her car up to the back of the stop and entered the building through the back through the kitchen. Staff noticed her enter the "staff only" entrance and a confrontation ensued leading to the police being called. Keeslyn fled the scene and dropped her backpack that contained, money, a phone charger, bank cards, her id, and keys. That was the last time anyone has seen her.
Eric Roberts, Keeslyn's father, received a phone call on January 20, 2020 from Keeslyn's probation officer asking if he knew that Keeslyn had missed her appointment to check-in on Jan 17th. It should be noted that Keeslyn was on probation for a marijuana charge that stemmed from her senior year of high school. After the phone call, Eric went to Keeslyn's home that she shared with her boyfriend, Chris. Chris spoke with Eric and claimed he hadn't seen her. As Eric was leaving Chris mentioned he knew Keeslyn's car was at the Flying J in Resaca. Upon receiving this information, Eric rushed to the truck stop where he found her car. After inspecting it, he called the police to report his daughter missing. Once authorities arrived, they took the report, but had no interest in searching the vehicle or gathering evidence. Eric took her car home and there it stayed.
Eric took it upon himself to look for his daughter. He called around to friends and found a friend that she dropped off to work January 18, 2020 at 7:00PM at the Denny's that shares the parking lot with the Flying J. The friend said they called Keeslyn for a pick up and she arrived saying she "would be back in a minute," but never returned. There is a discrepancy that the friend she went to pick-up was her boyfriend, Chris.
Three months after her initial disappearance, Eric and Shannon (Keeslyn's mother) received a text message from a Flying J employee that prompted them to search in the dumpster area, where clothes were found. They indeed found clothes that were hidden under some bushes near the trashcan. They were determined by her parents to be hers. With this new evidence, they called authorities once more to collect this new evidence. Eric stated they came and bagged it, but would not perform any testing because no crime had technically been committed.
Unfortunately, this isn't the first time this particular Flying J has been associated with sinister activity. A mere two days before Keeslyn went missing, Caleb Smith, 21 went missing from here. His car was found with his key, cell phone, and other personal items in his glove box. However, Caleb's body was found 5 miles from the Flying J truck stop in a wooded area on February 2, 2020. He was nude and his clothing was no where be found. Locals mentioned a small brush fire around the same time that many have speculated, may have contained his clothing. Though his death looked suspicious on the outside, his death was ruled an accidental overdose. Although both disappearances stemmed from the same location, these cases have not been officially linked.
Keeslyn is still missing 7 months after her disappearance. Her phone records have shown that the last ping of her cell phone was at 11PM at the Flying J, then nothing after that. However, after speaking to her cell phone provider, her father, Eric, stated that her number has since been recirculated and is no longer connected to her cell phone. Her cellphone has never been recovered.
Due to Keeslyn missing her check-in appointment on Jan. 17th with her probation officer, an active warrant has been issued for her probation violation. There have been some sightings of her at different truck stops, but none have been substantiated to be her. Did she leave on her own to start a new life? Or is something more sinister at play?
Keesyln is blonde and has blue eyes. Both of her ears are gauged. She has a large colored tattoo on her right arm that contains an ocean theme with waves, sea turtles, and the quote "Love yourself first". The Murray County and Gordon County are coordinating efforts in trying to locate Keeslyn. There is a $10,000 reward for any information leading to Keeslyn's location.
